Admissions

We serve the whole of Harpenden and the surrounding area, and take children throughout the year, subject to availability of places. Children can access nursery education the term after their third birthday. Applications are made directly via the nursery school as there is no longer a centralised county council admissions process. Please see our admissions policy for full details.

We are able to offer 3, 4 or 5 terms at nursery depending on availability. Our sessions run from 8.30—11.30 or 12.30-3.30 during term time. There is flexibility at drop off and pick up for those parents who have older children at primary school.

We have an annual open day in February so that parents and children can sample a session. This is always very well attended so please telephone 01582 713872 to book a place.

Information regarding 30 hours free childcare is available at https://www.childcarechoices.gov.uk

Attendance and punctuality

Good attendance and punctuality are very important. If you accept a place at Batford you will be asked to sign a home-school agreement, committing to regular attendance and punctuality, wherever possible. This ensures that you give your child the maximum access to the curriculum, thus giving them every opportunity to make outstanding progress. We aim for 100% attendance wherever possible, albeit that very young children are prone to childhood illness. We recognise that families have many demands and we will support you wherever we can to ensure the best possible outcomes for your child.
